From 2016 to 2020, there are149,8400 invention patents were published in GBA, far more than the other three Bay areas, with a compound annual growth rate of 17.23%.

New patents are in a leading position in the world, In 2020 there are 365900 invention patents were published in GBA, 2.39 times than Tokyo Bay Area,5.73 times than the San Francisco Bay Area, 7.85 times than New York Bay Area.

In 2020, there were 28000 PCT international patent applications in 9 cities in GBA(mainland).It accounts for 39% of China, and the number of effective trademark registrations is 4.555 million, accounting for 15% of China.

In the field of intellectual property, Hong Kong and Macao have advanced innovation cultural foundation, and intellectual property protection is better. Shenzhen and Guangzhou have high-quality high-tech manufacturing bases,and are also the main positions of innovation institutions of universities and scientific research institutions in GBA.
